Great Dunes Ladies Golf

A Nine-Hole Game

Jekyll Island Great Dunes Ladies Golf Association ladies day is Tuesday, with tee times beginning at 9 am at the 9-hole Great Dunes golf courses (8 am June to October). Sign up by Saturday noon. Tee times are posted on Sunday. Players with a handicap of 23 or less are in Flight 1; all others are in Flight 2. Dues are $20, to be paid by Jan. 1.  Mail or deliver to Susan Steffan, 9 Glynn Ave.

Great Dunes is a Classic Course, one of the oldest courses in the USA. It dates from the time of Jekyll being the private millionaires island. The few golf holes built around the stable areas were just not good enough. They hired a course architect to build them a proper course - Great Dunes!

When you play Great Dunes you will find that the easy looking holes are not what they seem - small greens and shots that always manage to be "in-between" clubs will test even experienced players.
